Ocks\u00e5 i Finland har vi m\u00e5nga dyngbaggsarter, men naturligtvis betydligt f\u00e4rre \u00e4n i hela v\u00e4rlden.<\/p>\n<p>Artantalet i Finland f\u00f6ljer tv\u00e5 globala regler. Den f\u00f6rsta regeln s\u00e4ger att arterna minskar ju mindre yta man studerar (se filmen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=irX2pfXUUtQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biodiversitetsforskningens ABC<\/a>). Den andra regeln s\u00e4ger att antalet arter i de flesta grupper minskar ju l\u00e4ngre fr\u00e5n ekvatorn vi r\u00f6r oss. I Finland p\u00e5verkas artantalet ocks\u00e5 av att v\u00e5ra livsmilj\u00f6er \u00e4r s\u00e5 unga: f\u00f6r 13\u00a0000 \u00e5r sedan l\u00e5g hela landet fortfarande t\u00e4ckt av inlandsis.<\/p>\n<p>Men hur m\u00e5nga arter dyngbaggar har vi d\u00e5? Tillv\u00e4xten forts\u00e4tter \u00e4nd\u00e5 inte o\u00e4ndligt utan f\u00f6ljer ekvationen: S=CA<sup>z<\/sup> S st\u00e5r f\u00f6r antalet arter, C \u00e4r en konstant, A \u00e4r omr\u00e5dets yta och z en parameter vars v\u00e4rde varierar fr\u00e5n 0,15 till 0,4. Ta f\u00f6rst reda p\u00e5 a) hela jordens och b) Finlands landareal. Om det finns 10\u00a0000 dyngbaggsarter i hela v\u00e4rlden, hur m\u00e5nga borde det d\u00e5 finnas i Finland? Ge sedan z v\u00e4rdet 0,3. Konstanten C \u00e4r artantalet p\u00e5 en ytenhet av ett omr\u00e5de. Du f\u00e5r v\u00e4rdet p\u00e5 C genom att placera in antalet dyngbaggsarter i v\u00e4rlden och jordens landyta i ekvationen. Arterna placeras i olika hotklasser enligt hur stora populationerna \u00e4r och hur snabbt de minskar och fragmenteras. Ocks\u00e5 utbredningsomr\u00e5denas storlek fragmentering inverkar p\u00e5 hotgraden. Om du inte har tillg\u00e5ng till dynga kan du g\u00f6ra samma f\u00f6rs\u00f6k med svampar. Litteratur\u00f6versikten g\u00e5r igenom vad vi idag vet om dessa ekosystemtj\u00e4nster: \u00c4r de verkligen nyttiga och vilken roll spelar dyngbaggarna f\u00f6r dem?<\/p>\n<p>Dyngbaggar har f\u00f6ljande ekologiska funktione: cirkulation av n\u00e4rings\u00e4mnen, omblandning av materialet i marken, fr\u00e4mjande av v\u00e4xternas tillv\u00e4xt, nedgr\u00e4vning av v\u00e4xternas fr\u00f6n, begr\u00e4nsning av parasiter, spridning av parasiter, begr\u00e4nsning av flugor, och i n\u00e5gon m\u00e5n ocks\u00e5 predation och pollinering. Ekosystemtj\u00e4nsterna de utf\u00f6r har huvudsakligen unders\u00f6kts ur boskapsuppf\u00f6dningens perspektiv. Tills vidare finns det just inga unders\u00f6kningar om dyngbaggarnas betydelse f\u00f6r jord- och skogsbruket.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e4nniskans verksamhet hotar dyngbaggarna \u00f6ver hela v\u00e4rlden. V\u00e4rst \u00e4r sk\u00f6vlingen av de tropiska skogarna, f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna i markanv\u00e4ndning och fragmenteringen av livsmilj\u00f6er. Varje dag producerar de enorma m\u00e4ngder dynga. Den nedersta kuben illustrerar den m\u00e4ngd dynga som \u00e5terst\u00e5r efter tv\u00e5 m\u00e5nader. Den ljusa kuben \u00f6verst och nederst visar situationen i nordligaste Finland, den m\u00f6rka kuben \u00f6verst och nederst situationen i sydligaste Finland. Vissa h\u00f6gar l\u00e4mnades att ligga \u00f6ppet s\u00e5 att alla nedbrytare kom \u00e5t dem. Andra skyddades med hj\u00e4lp av olika burkonstruktioner. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt fick man reda p\u00e5 hur mycket dynga som blev kvar n\u00e4r en viss grupp ryggradsl\u00f6sa djur st\u00e4ngdes ute.<\/p>\n<p>En enda forskargrupp hade om\u00f6jligt kunnat utf\u00f6ra f\u00f6rs\u00f6ket i den h\u00e4r skalan, men tack vare frivilliga \u201dmedborgarforskare\u201d lyckades det.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Medborgarforskning g\u00e5r ut p\u00e5 att frivilliga deltar i insamlingen av vetenskapligt material.
